Assistant Professor of Forensic Investigation – WVU Tech- 13021
West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:
The Department of Social Sciences and Public Administration in the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track, benefits-eligible instructor or assistant professor with a specialization in fingerprinting technology (desirable but not required) to begin August 2020.
We are seeking an outstanding teacher with scholarly promise with responsibility to teach introductory and upper-level courses in forensic investigation. The teaching load associated with this position is 4/4 offering such courses as fingerprinting technology, trace evidence, toolmark evidence, photography, crime scenes, interviewing, death investigation, and senior seminar. The successful candidate will participate in curriculum assessment, student advising, recruitment, and retention activities. All college faculty are expected to demonstrate value to the profession and university through creative activity and scholarship. The successful candidate will join a department with a student-centered philosophy and is expected to work closely with students. In addition, the department seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the university and the community it serves.

The successful candidate must possess a master’s degree in forensic science or a terminal degree in a natural science with forensic experience or terminal degree in a related discipline with forensic experience. Evidence of scholarly promise is essential and demonstrated ability to mentor students is also required. College-level teaching experience is desirable.
