Senior Research Technician – Vitamins & Carcinogen Lab, Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging – (21001191)

Description

This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

The Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) is one of six USDA human research centers created by Congress to study the effects of human nutrition on health. The HNRCA is the site for conducting some of the most advanced research in the world on the relationship between nutrition and the aging process.

This research position is in a lab that studies the roles of nutrition and the microbiome in the prevention of cancer. The individual filling this position will assume responsibility, under the auspices of the senior investigator, for the conduct of studies in laboratory mice and all the attendant biochemical, immunohistochemistry, and molecular assays that accompany these studies. The position requires an individual who has 1+ years of experience beyond school, working with laboratory rodents, as well as competence with conventional biochemical and molecular techniques. The individual should be diligent, able to pay attention to detail, someone who takes a genuine interest in their work.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least 1 year post-education of related laboratory experience.
Experience with small laboratory animal handling and management (feeding, genotyping, breeding).
Proficient in basic molecular biology (DNA/RNA/protein isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, western blotting, genotyping).
Knowledge of MS Office products.
Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in statistical/quantitative analysis and computation.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Experience with genomics techniques is highly valued.
