Qualifications

The School of Mining and Geosciences (hereinafter – the SMG) is seeking outstanding researcher with an earned PhD degree in Geological Sciences, a proven research track record and teaching experience commensurate with appointment rank. Candidates with fracture experience and/or carbonate experience are particularly urged to apply to support an industry consortia-funded research project.

Early career carbonate geologists with research interests in structural geology with fracture experience are particularly urged to apply to support an industry consortia-funded research project.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

(1) teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses, such as structural geology, geodynamics, geophysics, hydrogeology, and/or field geology,

(2) establishing world-class research projects in partnership with the local industry and international partners, and

(3) mentoring junior faculty.

Workload is distributed between teaching, research and service activities.

Additional information

The appointment is a 3-year renewable contract subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive remuneration package for international faculty members includes:

§  internationally competitive salary;

§  annual holiday leave of 56 calendar days;

§  two flights for the appointee and dependents to their home country per year;

§  international health insurance;

§  rent-free apartment for the appointee and dependents; and,

§  relocation allowance including air fare for the appointee and dependents.
