Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Position Description: A multi-investigator team based at LSU AgCenter is seeking a Research Associate to serve as a spatial analyst / data scientist for ongoing research designed to improve waterfowl and wetland conservation and management in the state of Louisiana. Routine duties will include working with real-time satellite telemetry data (mallard, northern pintail, and common gallinule) to support field technician and graduate student data collection, working to compile and analyze large remotely sensed spatial data sets of both southwestern and coastal Louisiana, and developing spatial and graphical visualizations to support data analysis. The Research Associate may also support spatial analyses of ongoing research designed to understand natal origins of captured / harvested waterfowl using stable isotope techniques.
Qualification Requirements: Education: graduate degree required focused on spatial ecology, wildlife conservation, ecological data science / statistics, or related fields. Experience: demonstrated competency in database management, data cleaning, and spatial programming in RStudio. Ability to work well independently as well as within collaborative teams. Previous experience working with movement data of marked individuals, Survey123, and Google Earth Engine is preferred.
