The Department of Biology at Tufts University seeks a full-time faculty member beginning September 1, 2023. Teaching responsibilities will include a multi-section laboratory course in Molecular Biology (Bio50), a Molecular Biology lecture course to complement an existing course offering (Bio105), and contribution to another course or courses that match the candidate’s expertise. Additional responsibilities will include undergraduate advising and service to the department and university.

 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in an area of Molecular Biology and show evidence of successful teaching in intermediate biology courses and laboratory settings. Candidates should have experience or invested interest in student-centered pedagogical techniques and developing inclusive classrooms. They should clearly describe how they will utilize effective teaching and mentoring to promote success and career enhancement of underrepresented students in STEM.  

This is an academic year, benefitted, non-tenure-track position with initial appointment for 2 years and is renewable contingent upon performance. Lecturers at Tufts University are unionized (https://access.tufts.edu/collective-bargaining-agreements) with the potential for long-term careers with promotional advancement within the Lecturer ranks.
