PhD students for Spring or Fall 2020 at Kent State University, OH

Research assistant positions are available to work in the Immersive Computing for Touch Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science at Kent State University, Kent, OH.

We are particularly interested in candidates in the following research topics:

  • Interactive 3D interface design and evaluation for biomedical applications o (Required) computer graphics, image processing knowledge o (Required) Strong computer programming skills (C++, C#) o 3D volume rendering and 3D modeling with design tools o Good knowledge in game engines (graphics and physics) o Force rendering combined with MS Hololens or HMD o Deep learning or machine learning experience for medical diagnosis o 3DOF haptic device controls o Exoskeleton device controls with programming o Unity3D programming experiences (C#) o Statistics for user study and data analysis

  • Real-time wearable interface for rehabilitation or training o (Required) Microprocessor (AtMega, Arduino) based programming o (Required) Android or windows programming skills o (Required) Strong C/C++ programming skills o User or perception study experiences o Digital signal processing (noise filtering, amplify, fft, etc.) for acoustic signals o PCB circuit debugging and modifications o Fast prototyping skills o Statistics for user study and data analysis o HCI study experience

The graduate research assistantship includes a monthly stipend and full tuition waiver only if candidates meet the following requirements:
- Degree: BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or related fields.
- English: iBT 75 and GRE (Q+V 295) score
- GPA: 3.5/4.0 or higher
- Publications: international conferences or journals
