The Research Assistant will work on a project aiming to improve oil content in soybean seeds. More specifically, the candidate will use mass spectrometry approaches (GC-MS and LC-MS/MS) to quantify carbohydrates in mature soybean seeds. Additionally, the candidate will assist with mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and metabolic flux analyses in developing soybean seeds. The goal is to generate a carbon flux map to identify metabolic control points that govern protein and oil content in both conventional and transgenic soybean lines. This work is part of a multi-institutional project funded by the United Soybean Board. Finally, the research assistant will manage several aspects of the research lab, such as but not limited to ordering supplies, general lab organization and safety.
