Position Summary

The Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (IAD) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites applications for one Assistant Professor of Teaching position (Lecturer) in line with their experience and prior positions and offer competitive salaries. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty, and who share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.

Responsibilities and expectations are commensurate with rank and experience. The successful candidate will focus primarily on teaching and curriculum development within core courses of the data science programs.

The facultys primary duties are teaching Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Computational Science-related courses at the graduate level and advising these students. Other duties may include industry internship and student project supervision, experiential learning and student excellence initiatives; accreditation objectives; diversity enhancement; program administration, and external educational grant support. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in and a passion for teaching courses in artificial intelligence, statistical learning, data mining, machine learning, database fundamentals, and related data models and queries.

The IAD is the home of several graduate programs, including a Ph.D. in Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering (CDSE), an MS in Engineering Science with Data Science focus (ESDS), an MS in Engineering Science with Artificial Intelligence focus (ESAI), an MS in Engineering Science with AI and Data Innovation focus, and a MPS in Data Science Applications (DSA). IAD coordinates interdisciplinary research including applications of data, computer, and computational sciences across various domains. The primary responsibility of the advertised positions is for the MS-ESDS program.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have a PhD degree in data science, computer science, computational sciences, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Degree must be conferred prior to appointment.
