Job Description Summary
The Sustainable Bio-Based Materials Lab in the College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment (CFWE) at Auburn University is looking for a qualified individual for a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship. This is a limited-term, non-tenure track position with anticipated funding for one year. Continued employment is contingent on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The individual in this position will be working on the formulation, design, and development of bio-based composites for food and horticulture industries, as well as sustainable cellulose-based delivery tools for controlled delivery of pesticides. Other tasks involve participating in coming up with original ideas for research projects, drafting grant proposals, and mentoring graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science at time of employment. The individual should have knowledge and skills in biomass processing and modification, product development, formulation, and physicochemical characterization. Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time employment begins and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with bio-based composites and coatings, hands-on experience with pulp mechanical refining techniques, extrusion, and mold compression. Previous experience in writing grant proposals is a plus.
