Position title: Project Scientist Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. A reasonable estimate for this position is $74,100-$85,900.

Position description
Professor Aganagic's group is working at the intersection of mathematics and theoretical physics. The group applies insights of quantum physics and string theory to obtain new results in pure mathematics, specifically, in the areas of geometry and topology.
The Assistant Project Scientist will conduct research on the Homological Mirror Symmetry, Knot Theory and Categorification Project. They will engage in research studying categorified quantum groups and associated structures using Fukaya categories. They will also study homological mirror symmetry in this context and will develop Fukaya categories and their mirrors to obtain explicit solutions of corresponding theories and prove conjectures made by Prof. Aganagic. They will also prepare reports on progress, respond to referee reports and participate in supervision of junior scientists on the project.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) PhD or equivalent international degree
Preferred qualifications
- Expertise in symplectic geometry, homological mirror symmetry and representation theory, knot theory, homological algebra.
- Three or more years of professional experience.
