Job Summary

Two positions will be filled from this recruitment.

The Senior Project Scientist conducts and supervises basic and applied research in the areas of modeling, simulation, data analytics, and software development. This includes experience in:
  • Anylogic Modeling Software
  • Software development using: Python, Java, C++, C
  • Data Science fields using: Python & R
  • ROS (Robotic Operating System)
  • Creating Virtual Machines using Unbuntu and Virtual Box
  • Version Control tools: GitLab, Github, Azure and Jira/Confluence
  • IDE’s: VIM, Visual Studio, Spyder, Jupyter Notebooks, Notepad++
The incumbent may serve as principal investigator or co-principal investigator for sponsored research projects and is responsible for communicating with key stakeholders, coordinating with subject matter experts, and completing the tasks outlined in the statements of work under delivery orders or contracts. In addition, the position may be expected to lead research teams comprised of junior project staff, graduate students, Post Docs, and editing and writing of grant proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in computer science, data science or modeling and simulation, or bachelor’s degree in related field of study and related work experience equivalent to a master’s degree

Considerable experience related to research or project management in a University or research center environment. This includes considerable modeling, simulation, data analytics, and software development experience using tools such as:
  • Anylogic Modeling Software
  • Software development using: Python, Java, C++, C
  • Data Science fields using: Python & R
  • ROS (Robotic Operating System)
  • Creating Virtual Machines using Unbuntu and Virtual Box
  • Version Control tools: GitLab, Github, Azure and Jira/Confluence
  • IDE’s: VIM, Visual Studio, Spyder, Jupyter Notebooks, Notepad++

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of the disciplinary field and the ability to relate this knowledge to various phenomena under study.
  • Considerable knowledge of the design and development process for performing individual research focused on the application of modeling, simulation, data analytics, and software development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct independent research including opportunity identification, proposal preparation and award management as project manager or principal investigator.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual or complex situations. The judgment to set priorities, evaluates results, and coordinates work with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare written correspondence, technical reports, proposals and other pertinent documents as they relate to research.
  • Demonstrate ability to schedule and set priorities.
