Position overview

Position title: Lecturer

Salary range: Commensurate with experience

Percent time: Appointment are typically part-time

Anticipated start: Applications will be accepted and reviewed for department needs through August 01, 2023. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available. Applications are typically reviewed for fall course needs in April/May, spring course needs in October/November, and summer session course needs in January/February. Position duration: Varied and may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Position description

The Energy and Resources Group (ERG) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in the areas of energy and resources from a wide variety of disciplines, should an opening arise. ERG has a long and distinguished history of interdisciplinary research and teaching for a sustainable environment and an equitable society. ERG is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching.

Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department.

General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application

  • Ph.D., or equivalent international degree
  • College-level teaching experience is preferred
