The College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Teaching Assistant, General Education. Reporting to the Department Chair, School of General Education, must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the School of General Education in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will assist in the organization and delivery of lessons and support applied student learning development.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of industry experience in Chemistry, or related field, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Teaching Assistant, General Education. The successful candidate is responsible to assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons and in the planning and organization of instruction to maximize student retention. Candidates will assist in the design and delivery of laboratory projects to facilitate TVET practice based learning and monitor student work in a laboratory setting.

Candidates will be responsible for the maintenance of laboratory areas and equipment and will ensure the safety of the laboratory during lessons and the equipment and materials are handled according to college health and safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities will also include to support the Lead Instructor with the maintenance of course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and to support the faculty in marking students’ papers, exams in line with the guidelines and to monitor class attendance as required.
The Teaching Assistant, General Education will attend departmental meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance student learning development.

Education and Certifications:
Bachelors in Chemistry (or equivalent) from a recognized, accredited institution
2 Year Experience working as part of a team in an educational setting, preferably in a post secondary institution.

Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Bilingual in English and Arabic is preferable.

Other Required Skills:
Ambitious and self-motivated team player with a high standard of professional integrity. Demonstrable experience of working within an educational institution. Commitment to applied and experiential learning and the ability to develop a technology-enriched learning environment is required. Proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. Reliable and dependable with a desire to lead by example is required. Good attention to detail and the ability to anticipate change is required. Commitment to positive relationship building, and collaborative working across all levels of the organisations is required. A Commitment to ongoing IT training and continuous professional development is desirable. Knowledge of Classroom Preparation is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English language is required and Arabic is an asset.
