The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2021. Duties include establishing an independent research program in Mathematics and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
We seek applicants with research specialization in Discrete Mathematics. The Discrete group is currently centered in graph theory, and we would welcome a candidate in a complementary area such as probabilistic combinatorics, matroid theory, additive combinatorics, design theory, or algebraic combinatorics.
The department has a PhD program and various MS programs, including a new MS program in Data Science. It has around 50 mathematicians/statisticians and more than 120 graduate students engaged in research in a wide variety of areas in mathematics and statistics. Auburn University’s strong research programs in a variety of areas presents many opportunities for interdisciplinary research and for participation in its various multidisciplinary programs.
