As an urban research university in a diverse locale, the University of Akron is committed to advancing diversity goals within the community writ large. As such, we ask that candidates submit a maximum one-page ‘Contributions to Diversity’ Statement.

In this statement we ask that you speak to your values with respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion, your plans related to diversity and inclusion in your teaching, research and recruiting, and your experience working with underrepresented populations and/or on issues that disproportionately affect diverse populations in your profession and/or community life.

Responsibilities
The Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences seeks to assemble a cohort of teacher-scholars who will offer a strong contribution to the diversity and excellence of UA through teaching, scholarship, service and collaboration. Needs and problems include, but are not limited to: families, health disparities, criminal justice/police reform, race/ethnicity broadly, environmental justice, social justice, urban planning, economic justice, or LGBTQ+ issues.

The Department of Geosciences seeks applicants with a demonstrated interest in geoscience or environmental research and teaching that advances our understanding of climate change, environmental degradation, or other factors that perturb natural systems and significantly impact the welfare of minority, poor or otherwise marginalized populations. Such research could include quantifying the consequences of impacts at local, regional, or global scales.

This is a tenured track position starting Fall 2023.
