Applicants should demonstrate excellence in some sub-field(s) of operations research broadly construed, including, but not limited to, optimization, stochastic modeling, decision analysis, systems modeling, simulation, statistics, and application areas. We seek candidates whose research and teaching complement and strengthen the department and, in particular, the research group on systems and operations research.
The position will be filled at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level of the Aalto University tenure track system. The contract is full-time and either fixed-term or permanent depending on its positioning on the tenure track. The position has a competitive salary and seed funding for setting up a research team. The contract includes occupational health benefits. The position will be filled at the latest in September 2022, but the precise starting date is negotiable.
Candidates at all career stages are considered in this call. Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree in operations research or a related field and a fluent command of English, which is the teaching language for the relevant master’s and doctoral level courses as well as a working language of Aalto University.
Applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research achievements, teaching merits and activity in the scientific community in relation to their career stage. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a full-day visit to present and discuss their research and teaching with the faculty of the department. A person at any level of the tenure track is expected to perform world‐class research, to teach, supervise students and otherwise advance education, to be an active member of the international scientific community, and to exhibit academic leadership. Career advances on the tenure track are based on scheduled performance assessments that take into account merits in all these areas.
