The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Computer Science beginning August 1, 2019.

Job responsibilities include twenty-four hours of undergraduate teaching per year (typically four three-hour courses each semester), as well as advising, program management, and other departmental and university professional responsibilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to and preparation for excellence in teaching computer science to introductory and advanced undergraduates, including in Belmont’s general education program; have a passion for computer science and data science that will aid in attracting and retaining undergraduate majors; and be able to communicate a vision for a sustainable scholarly research program at Belmont that includes undergraduates. At Belmont, it is understood that scholarship encompasses the scholarship of teaching as well as scholarship of discovery, integration, and application. Successful candidates will be able to broaden our expertise in contemporary applications of computer science and support our interest in developing a program in data science.

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline is required; teaching experience preferred. As all Belmont undergraduates complete an innovative general education program with significant interdisciplinary components, Belmont University is particularly seeking applicants who can demonstrate the interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses in this program.
