Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position has the possibility of allowing remote work.
Position Description: We are seeking a post-doctoral research associate with experience in submerged aquatic vegetation ecology to lead and participate in studies exploring seagrass resources, carbon stocks and seagrass restoration in Guam and other Pacific Islands, and within continental United States. The position may be based in Louisiana or remotely located, with expected travel to Guam, and surrounding islands. Ideal applicants will have experience working in coastal ecosystems, ecological design, expertise with spatial and statistical analyses, and proven scientific writing skills. The ability to work well within a large team of academic, state, and government scientists is critical
Qualification Requirements: Applicant must hold a PhD degree in biological sciences, natural resources management, marine science, or a related field. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following (1) experience with spatial and statistical analyses including use of R, GIS, python or similar programs, (2) proven ability to organize, analyze and interpret ecological data, (3) interest and ability to write scientific manuscripts, (4) interest and ability to identify and develop ecological research questions, (5) ability to work in the field in hot and wet environments, (5) ability to work independently, create work plans, trouble shoot technical issues, meet deadlines and collaborate with a diversity of individuals, and (6) experience and knowledge of coastal and seagrass ecology.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
