Lecturer - Introductory Chemistry Laboratory and Lecture

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC; https://chemistry.umbc.edu/) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the area of introductory chemistry. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will include instruction and oversight of the general chemistry laboratories as well as working with a team of experienced, pedagogy-driven faculty members in teaching introductory chemistry lectures. Additional associated responsibilities include instruction, oversight of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, and student assessment. Finally, the ability to contribute to the laboratory component of our sophomore-level quantitative analysis course is also desirable. The successful candidate should have a strong background in experimental chemistry and innovative teaching experience at the undergraduate level. In addition, strong candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to UMBC’s values of diversity, equity and access (https://facultydiversity.umbc.edu). Service on one or more departmental committees based on expertise and/or interest is also expected. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field is desired, with a minimum of an M.S. degree required.
