Postdoctoral Position in Stem Cell Organoids at Syracuse University

Dr. Zhen Ma’s Lab at the Department of Biomedical & Chemical Engineering and BioInspired Syracuse Institute invites applications for a postdoc position in the areas of human induced pluripotent stem cells and cardiac organoids for cardiac disease modeling.

Ma Lab at Syracuse University (https://myheart.syr.edu) develops new technologies for production of 3D stem cell organoids that capture the dynamic process of early human organ development during embryogenesis. Currently, the lab focuses on new organoid models for drug screening and disease modeling purposes. The lab was recently awarded with multiple grants from federal agencies and corporation sponsorship on our stem cell organoid platform. The successful candidate will work on the projects involved with human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), microfabrication, advanced imaging, and molecular biology. The candidate will work in an openly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with excellent colleagues and mentors. The candidate will receive great opportunities to learn new techniques and develop new research directions for future career.

The candidate should have a recent PhD degree in cell biology, bioengineering, or a related field, with demonstrated productivity, independency, and excellence in oral and written skills. He/she should have working experiences on stem cell culture and differentiation, general microscopy skills, and molecular biology techniques. The candidates with research background on 3D culture, organoid technology, RNA sequencing, bioinformatics and gene editing are preferred. The initial appointment is full-time for one year with the possibility for renewal of contract. The annual salary is based on NIH standard and negotiable according to the past experience.

For full consideration, candidates must complete an online application and electronically attach required documents, include curriculum vitae, contact information of three professional references, and a cover letter with brief description of research interests through www.sujobopps.com (job# 076376, direct link via https://www.sujobopps.com/postings/93593). Review of applications will start on November 1st, 2022, and continue until the positions are filled. For additional information, please contact the Dr. Zhen Ma, at zma112@syr.edu.

Syracuse University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to equality of opportunity and a diverse work force. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education broadly, and in engineering, specifically, are strongly encouraged to apply.
