Job Summary
Teach general and advanced biology courses; guide undergraduate and graduate students; initiate, develop, and set up projects to support student research activities; obtain extramural funding to support research and academic enhancement activities; be a proactive supporter of all activities and programs sponsored through the Department; conduct state-of-the-art research; publish and present research along with students as co-authors.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Must be able to work in a diverse environment.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Job Functions
Teach undergraduate/graduate courses; initiate research to provide experiences that will enable students to be competitive in acquiring positions in professional or graduate programs at research-intensive universities or professional schools or gain employment in their field of study. Advise student organizations. Initiate advanced strategies, including tutorials for students to succeed; mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students in their chosen curricular programs in Biology.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Biological Sciences or related field. Post-doctoral training is highly desirable.
- Experience in teaching undergraduate or graduate courses; experience in research as evidenced by presentations and publications; experience in student academic enrichment activities, including working with “at-risk students.” The candidate must be capable of attracting external research funds for undergraduate and graduate student research training.
Licensing and Certifications
- Authorization to work in the United States.
