The Department of Biology at Utah Valley University invites applications for a non-tenure-track lecturer position, to begin in August 2022. We seek an outstanding candidate who can teach a combination of human anatomy, human physiology, microbiology and/or general biology I.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching utilizing inclusive, data-driven pedagogies. Teaching responsibilities for this position include: Human Anatomy (ZOOL 2320), Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology (ZOOL 1090), Microbiology for Health Professionals (MICR 2060) and/or General Biology I (BIOL 1610). Candidates may be asked to teach other courses based on their area of expertise, as needed by the department. Applicants with experience and interest in teaching hybrid and/or online instruction are especially encouraged to apply.

Non-tenure-track lecturer positions require 15 hours of teaching per semester and include an expectation of service to the department or discipline. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to engage in professional development, and to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to promote the university's mission and values.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Masters of Science in Biology or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledge of theory and practice relevant to introductory biology, anatomy, physiology, or microbiology.
* Knowledge of the relevance of Biology to the individual and society
Knowledge of online learning platforms and of effective online pedagogies.
Skills in the design and instruction of engaged, active-learning pedagogies.
* Ability to communicate in written and verbal form with various students, faculty, and others.
* Ability to work collaboratively with students and support staff.
* Ability to develop curriculum and teach and design courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in teaching Biology or related field at the college level.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, sitting, and walking; continuous ability to see, hear, and speak; Able to lift up to 10 pounds; frequent fine hand manipulation as associated with the use of a computer.
