The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the Schaefer School of Engineering and Science, Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) seeks to fill a full-time (9-month) Lecturer position in Bioanalytical Chemistry, starting in Fall 2022.
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) at Stevens is known for its legacy of fostering and nurturing groundbreaking, world-class innovation. CCB was among the first to offer an undergraduate Chemical Biology degree in 1978 and today remains at the forefront of chemical biology with our internationally recognized faculty in the healthcare domain as well as with professionally diverse experiences in academia and industry. The department currently consists of 17 full time faculty members, approximately 145 undergraduates, 40 Master’s, and 25 doctoral students.
The candidate should be able to deliver: (1) a first-class learning experience in analytical chemistry and biology lecture and laboratory courses, at both undergraduate and graduate levels and (2) maintain various bioanalytical instruments in the Department’s teaching and shared laboratory facilities, including user training and coordination as a subject matter expert.
The candidate must possess extensive hands-on skills and responsibilities in using and maintaining bioanalytical instruments such as flow cytometer, fluorescence microscope, LC-MS, HPLC and Q-TOF mass spectrometers. The candidate should possess impeccable organizational and strong collaborative skills, can multitask, and help manage the teaching and shared laboratory facilities. The successful applicant will contribute to curriculum development and assessment activities; and be an active member of the intellectual community. This position requires the candidate to have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry (or an M.S. degree with extensive professional experience in working with various bioanalytical instruments).
