Join Our Team at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant (RA) to join our research team in synthetic biology and enzyme engineering. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to the development of novel biocatalysts and microbial chassis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and construction of synthetic biological systems.

  • Support enzyme engineering projects, including protein expression, purification, and characterization.

  • Conduct molecular cloning experiments such as DNA manipulation and PCR.

  • Maintain cell cultures and perform bacterial or yeast transformations.

  • Troubleshoot experimental procedures and optimize protocols.

  • Analyze experimental data and document findings.

  • Collaborate with team members to drive innovative research efforts.

 

Job Requirements:

  • BSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and transformation systems (bacterial or yeast) is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Familiarity with synthetic biology tools and concepts is a plus.

  • Passion for scientific research and innovation.
