  • Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Chemical Biology

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Seton Hall University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Chemical Biology beginning August 2018. Candidates proposing a multi-disciplinary research program in chemical biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates must possess the degree of PhD, or MD/PhD and postdoctoral training. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a high quality extramurally funded research program. The candidate will also have to demonstrate excellence in the teaching of introductory and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry and biochemistry. Moreover, the ideal candidate is expected to possess the desire to collaborate inside and outside the basic sciences.

    The search is open to all areas of chemical biology as broadly defined, including areas such as: biochemistry, bio-organic chemistry, macromolecule design and synthesis, bioactive polymer synthesis, medicinal chemistry, bio-physical, bio-inorganic, bio-analytical and areas of synthetic biology which include the development of new chemistries for the biomedical sciences.

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is a teaching oriented and research inspired department, supported by the Catholic mission of Seton Hall University. We offer programs leading to the BS, MS and PhD degrees and maintain a broad inventory of open access research instrumentation including 400 and 500 MHz NMRs, numerous chromatographs, spectrometers and microscopes, as well as mainframe and cluster high performance computing equipment. Located in northern New Jersey and 30 minutes from Manhattan, the department has numerous long-standing collaborative relationships with local industrial R&D laboratories as well as a partnership with our incumbent Seton Hall-Hackensack-Meridian School of Medicine.
