    The Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University of Toronto welcomes applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Gabor Kovacs. The expected start date is October 1, 2019 or as mutually agreed upon.

    The successful candidates will join a busy and exciting research group using state-of-the-art laboratory methods working with human brain samples and cell cultures to enhance our understanding the neuropathology of neurodegenerative diseases. Applications from candidates with a strong interest in neuroscience, morphology and biochemistry are welcomed. Experience with the following methods is preferred: immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, preparation of pathological protein filaments, preparation of different subcellular fractions from brain tissue, western blotting, RT-QuIC and RNA-based studies.

    Salary and research funding support for the successful candidate can be guaranteed for a period of up to five years. The salary will be in the range of $50,000-$55,000 (CAD), commensurate of research accomplishments and experience. Applicants should have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree that has been awarded within the past two years. Alternatively, applicants expecting to complete their PhD, MD, or MD/PhD prior January 1st 2019 are also able to apply but will have to provide proof of completing all degree requirements prior to starting this postdoctoral position. The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisors’ research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
