    University of North Texas

New College invites applications for a clinical faculty member to teach and mentor students within the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.) degree program. This multidisciplinary program allows students to apply non-traditional credits (e.g., military, community college, technical) toward a baccalaureate degree. The program includes flexible design of concentrations in consultation with advisors and faculty. The successful candidate for this position must be an innovative and collaborative educator with the capacity to foster student success, both within the classroom and in mentoring relationships, with a demonstrated capacity to engage individuals across a spectrum of backgrounds, ages, levels of experience and career aspirations. The individual in this position is expected to set an example for their students through active engagement in both university and community life. The B.A.A.S. degree has been a strong part of UNT degree offerings since the 1970’s and has become increasingly important as state priorities focus on encouraging post-secondary credentials, including those in technical fields. UNT has recently partnered with Coursera to bring the B.A.A.S. degree program fully online.

The program courses are taught by UNT faculty and delivered on Coursera’s globally recognized and highly accessible online platform. The position will include the delivery of courses in face-to-face, online, and blended formats. This position will be responsible for instruction of B.A.A.S. unifying courses, as well as courses within their own scholarly discipline when possible. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses on Coursera in addition to UNT’s LMS, Canvas. Faculty will be based at UNT’s regional campus located in Frisco, Texas, but may also teach at the Denton campus. Night and weekend classes may be included in the teaching load. Candidates are expected to teach 3-4 courses per semester with the potential for a course load reduction for recruiting, professional activities, program advising, course development, assisting with accreditation, providing career guidance to students, or other professional development and service activities. Actual course loads are assigned based on program needs and determined by the Chair of New College. Clinical faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly and professional activity as well as service to the department and college. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
