  • Assistant Professor of Atmospheric (Electricity) and Physics (Tenure Track)

    The Physics Department at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics to start in Fall semester of 2022. Successful candidates are expected to build an externally funded research program supporting graduate and undergraduate students. The department’s research strengths are in atmospheric physics, scientific instrumentation, and astrophysics, and we specifically seek candidates to complement our atmospheric electricity, atmospheric physics, and instrumentation programs. Broader areas of interest include: atmospheric physics and chemistry, atmospheric electricity, planetary & space physics, aeronomy, and space weather. We encourage applicants that can develop strong connections with Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories. Our department values excellence in attentive instruction and expects a successful candidate with great enthusiasm for mentoring and teaching. The candidate should also help us to attract more majors at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Our department is known for extensively involving undergraduates in sponsored research programs. A Ph.D. is required in physics, atmospheric science or related field.
