  • Job opening for Research Professionals [Post-Doc.] Data Assimilation, Physical Process
    Data Assimilation Group/Numerical Modeling Group
KIAPS, Korea Institute of Atmospheric Prediction System

The Korea Institute for Atmospheric Prediction Systems (KIAPS) is a research institution based in Seoul. Established in 2011 to lead development of the core operational NWP systems for the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
KIAPS is seeking research professionals as described below. This is a full-time contract position and is based in Seoul, South Korea.

Position Title : Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Research Area : Development and analysis of the KIAPS global hybrid-4DEnVar algorithm
    Number of Vacancy: 1

Position Title : Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Research Area : Development of Physical Processes
    Number of Vacancy: 1

As a relatively young and compact institution, KIAPS offers a particularly good opportunity for ambitious scientists to help contribute significant improvements to NWP systems, while developing their profile and publication record as a researcher.

The position detailed below is a three-year post-doctoral position within our Data Assimilation section, and is open to both Korean and non-Korean scientists. The successful applicant will be supported and guided in their research by their team leader, and be given the freedom necessary for them to focus on the agreed areas of research. (For example, unlike regular employees, post-doctoral scientists will not be expected to assist with general infrastructure developments or general operational issues.) The preferred research area is stated in section II below. The candidate’s Ph.D. subject or subsequent research is required to have been in a closely-related field.
