    Overview

The Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology is dedicated to the advancement of basic biology and biomedicine, and to becoming a leader in basic, translational, and clinical research using biophysical mechanisms to ultimately regenerate and control the growth of human tissues.  This novel technology is aimed at replacing tissues and organs that are lost, damaged, or non-functional as a result of genetic syndromes, birth defects, cancer, degenerative neural diseases, accidents, aging, and organ failure. Medical applications of this approach include craniofacial, neural, cardiovascular, liver, and kidney diseases.  The emphasis of the Center is unique in contemporary medicine, achieving repair through novel biophysical approaches that do not rely on the use of human embryonic material such as stem cells. The center will attract the best minds in diverse synergistic fields including biology, physics, and computer modeling.
