    A Research Assistant position is currently available in the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS).


    The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.


    CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.


    As part of this programme, Cluster 1: Climate Processes and Extremes will address key knowledge gaps in the understanding and modelling of the physical processes and impacts of climate change, with specific focus on Singapore and the equatorial SEA region.


    The Research Assistant will be based in Earth Observatory of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and will help conduct geochemical lab analyses and field survey for the project.


     


    Key Responsibilities:




    • Process natural samples (e.g., rocks, sediments and water) through geochemical analyses.




    • Operate the analytical instruments in labs and fields.




    • Do analytical data compilation and statistical analyses.




    • Assist with tasks related to research benchmarking as required by funding entity. This will involve research activities including, but not limited to, collecting data, coding tasks, research collation and assisting research collaborations.




     


    Job Requirements:




    • Good B.Sc. degree in (analytical) chemistry, geochemistry, or related disciplines.




    • Willing to conduct field work when necessary.




    • Basic knowledge of environmental analysis and climatic sciences is preferred but not required.




    • Experience with statistical analysis and common programming languages is preferred but not required.




    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, well organized, and high work efficiency.




    • Ability to work interpedently and as part of a team.
