    Overview


    The Tufts Department of Biology has diverse research interests and is engaged in cutting-edge biological research in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, neurobiology, physiology, plant ecology, animal behavior, and conservation biology.  The Department of Biology maintains an active research and teaching program on the Medford campus and in various field locales, and trains and advises graduate and undergraduate students as well as post-doctoral fellows.



    What You'll Do


    The Research Technician will carry out lab management duties, including but not limited to ordering, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies and managing data and reagent storage systems.  In addition, under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician conducts a variety of experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include genetic assays, PCR assays, creation of yeast mutants, and molecular biological research using DNA and protein detection techniques. The topic of investigation is cellular mechanisms of maintaining genome stability, including prevention of chromosome fragility and mutation, using budding yeast as a model system.                                                                                                                                 


    What We're Looking For


    Basic Requirements:



    • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a BA/BS in Biology or related biological sciences field

    • 1 year of research laboratory experience


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Prior experience coordinating laboratory activities/operations

    • Research experience using molecular biological and genetic techniques



    Pay Range

    Minimum $19.80, Midpoint $23.55, Maximum $27.30

    Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
