    The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.


    Join the laboratory of Xiao Tianshu at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on structure- and function-based therapeutic development against infectious diseases, including flavivirus and coronavirus. The research fellow will be involved in experiments that will pinpoint novel antiviral inhibitors, structural characterization on the inhibitor/target interaction and other mechanistic studies using biophysical and biochemical approaches.


     


    Key Responsibilities




    • Protein production and sample preparation for cryo-EM




    • Data processing and analysis of cryo-EM using cryoSPARC, EMAN2, etc.




    • Functional studies to detect protein-inhibitor interaction and inhibitory activity




    • Data presentation




     


    Job Requirements




    • A PhD degree in structural biology, with focus on cryo-EM single particle analysis




    • Strong research experience and track record in protein structural study using Cryo-EM




    • Experience with molecular cloning, protein expression in mammalian cell/insect cell and protein purification using affinity chromatography and FPLC system




    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English as required to publish research and present data




    • Excellent team player
