  • Senior Research Technician

    Overview


    This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay. Ideal start date is before September 1st.


    Tufts University School of Dental Medicine seeks a Senior Research Technician to work under Dr. Russell Taichman. The research encompasses gene expression in bone formation, stem cell biology, and translational studies on bone metastasis, osteonecrosis, and dental implant osseointegration. State-of-the-art investigations utilize advanced techniques such as 3D tissue-engineering models and transgenic models to investigate mineralized tissue biology, mechanisms of metastasis and to develop innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes.



    What You'll Do


    Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Senior Research Technician will conduct a variety of routine experiments by following established procedures and protocols.

     

    Responsibilities include:


    • Conducts experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures to achieve results

    • Performs techniques such as tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein analysis, flow cytometry and others

    • Examines reliability of results and determines whether modification or repeat of procedures is necessary

    • Assists with department budget and/or grants, purchases supplies, completes expense reports and requisitions, monitors department spending and tracks expenditures

    • Performs limited data interpretation and assists with statistical analysis and summaries and records results and maintains accurate records of experiments

    • Monitors animal colonies and performs husbandry, collects samples and maintains census records. Develops and tracks applications for internal review processes that support the appropriate and ethical use of infectious agents (IBC), animal procedures (IACUC) and patient-derived cells (IRB)

    • Maintains laboratory equipment and orders/keeps inventory of supplies

    • Coordinates department projects or programs, as needed; entails assisting with development of materials and brochures, updating web information and assisting with content and design



    What We're Looking For


    Basic Requirements:


    • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of a bachelors degree in science and at least one year of related laboratory experience


    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Advanced knowledge and experience with laboratory techniques and procedures

    • Knowledge of basic statistics



    Pay Range

    Minimum $24.30, Midpoint $28.90, Maximum $33.50

    Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
