    The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.


    Position Available: Project Officer, Plant Genomics


    Join the laboratory of Jarkko Salojarvi at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Project Officer to contribute to a project focused on the genomics of South East Asian rainforests. You will assemble the genome of a local plant species and study the evolution of secondary metabolism pathways in its genus.


    Key responsibilities




    • Establish a high-quality reference genome for the plant species using long read genome sequencing platforms.




    • Annotate the genome and analyse data from a controlled experiment that combined RNA-sequencing and metabolomics data.




    Job Requirements




    • A BSc degree in Biology or related areas, with a focus or final year project on plant genomics.




    • Experience in RNA-sequencing data analysis and metabolomics data.




    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
