    Description
    The Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates doing innovative work in biochemistry and structural biology, or a closely related field, are encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome applications from candidates making use of cryo-EM to pursue questions about protein structure.

    Comprising faculty in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine, the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology is an active, collaborative community of scholars with broad research interests dedicated to both scientific discovery and fostering inclusive education at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels. Beyond the Department there are opportunities for collaboration with other research programs including the Stony Brook Center for Infectious Disease, the Stony Brook Cancer Center, the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, and the Institute for Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. In addition, the University maintains professionally staffed core facilities to support research including proteomics, next generation sequencing and microscopy.


    Qualifications
    Required qualifications:
    Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in structural biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related field, as well as at least two years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in innovative research and have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must exhibit quality of past and current research.

    Preferred qualifications:
    Research program that make use of Cryo-EM and modern biochemical techniques to pursue fundamental questions about protein structure.
