    School of Ecology, Environment and Resources (SEER):
    Located in Guangzhou, the SEER at Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) was founded by Professor Zhifeng Yang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, at the end of 2018. The SEER (jointly) builds a series of national or provincial scientific research platforms, e.g., the National Basic Science Center for Water Quality Risk Control Engineering, the Guangdong Center of Excellence for Basic Research on Ecological Safety and Green Development in the Greater Bay Area, and the Provincial Key Laboratory of Water Environment Governance and Hydro-Ecological Rehabilitation of Watersheds. The ESI global ranking of GDUT in environment/ecology has risen from top 1% in 2019 to top 0.21% in 2024; we are among top 50 in the world for environmental science and engineering in the Soft Sciences World-Class Discipline Ranking, hold an A-class rating in the China Discipline Ratings by Times Higher Education, and have continuously been ranked 1st in alumni associations’ China University Rankings in Environmental Ecological Engineering.
     
    Resource Efficient Utilization and Ecological Environment Lab at SEER:
    ● Advisor: Prof. Zhifeng Yang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
    ● PI: Prof. Qian Tan is the dean of SEER, the National Distinguished Young Scholar, the editor-in-chief of SCI journals, a PI of the National Key R&D Program, a co-PI of the Basic Science Center Project of NSFC, and a co-PI of the Guangdong Center of Excellence in Basic Research of Higher Education Institutions. She has won the Chinese Young Female Scientist Award, the first prize of the National Science and Technology Award of Environmental Protection, the first prize of the Innovation Award of China Industry-University-Research Cooperation, etc.
    ● Co-PIs: We mainly comprise national-level young talents with doctoral degrees and working experience at world-leading universities. All co-PIs have undertaken national-level research projects, and have published first- or corresponding-author articles in top journals such as Nature series journals, EST, WRR, JH, RSER, JCLP, AWM, or CEJ.
     
    Recruitment Directions:
    Our lab focuses on research in the following directions:
    ● Multi-resource nexus and their synergistic utilization;
    ● Environmental impacts and the management of watershed/regional resource utilization;
    ● Diagnosis and prevention of risks in composite ecosystems under environmental changes.
    We are recruiting postdoctoral researchers with backgrounds in environment, water resources, ecology, remote sensing, geography, biology, climatology, chemistry, energy, statistics, computer science, system science, agricultural resources and environment, or other related disciplines. We also welcome applications for research assistants or PhD/Master's degrees.
     
    Position Descriptions:
    ● Over the past 5 years, more than 95% of postdoctoral fellows from our lab were granted national or provincial-level projects. Upon completion of contracts, 100% of postdocs secured positions at prestigious institutes such as Beijing Normal University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and South China Normal University. 91% obtained senior professional titles, and 29% stayed at GDUT as faculties (including 3 directly appointed as professors). Some have become recipients of national or provincial youth talent programs, or deputy deans of research institutes at national first-class universities.
    ● Postdocs are expected to actively participate in national-level research projects and graduate student training.
    ● Our lab offers ample funding and sufficient support, e.g., for various national- and provincial-level research project applications and for participation in international and domestic academic conferences.
     
    Position Requirements:
    In principle, the applicant should have graduated with a doctoral degree in the past three years, not exceed the age of 35, be able to work on a full-time basis, and meet the following conditions:
    ● Level A+: GDUT’s requirements for first-author publications over the past five years (no less than 5 SCI papers of which at least 3 are in Top/CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) major category I, or no less than 4 papers in CAS major category I or II of which at least 2 are in Top/CAS major category I), or to be selected by the Guangdong provincial postdoctoral program via GDUT;
    ● Level A: GDUT’s requirements for first-author publications over the past five years (at least 2 SCI papers, or at least 1 in CAS major category I or II), or recommendation of at least two well-known experts and recognition of the search committee.
     
    Remuneration Package:
    ● Level A+: two-year salary starting at 800,000 to 1,100,000 RMB, and up to 1,300,000 RMB on conditions.
    ● Level A: two-year salary starting at 700,000 to 1,000,000 RMB, and up to 1,200,000 RMB on conditions.
    ● Receipts of the Guangdong provincial postdoctoral talent program: additional follow-up funding of up to 400,000 RMB.
    ● GDUT reserves sufficient faculty openings for postdocs each year; SEER offers a green recruitment channel for such positions on the basis of merit.
    ● Postdoc apartments are available; the rent, utilities, and other expenses are paid according to the standards of GDUT.
    ● For those who have not obtained any professional titles in China, GDUT will assist with applications for intermediate ones.
    ● We will assist with settlement, children's education, spouse employment, free vehicle license plates, and other essential life arrangements.
    ● GDUT will pay social insurance and housing provident fund for postdocs according to relevant regulations.
