    The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) was created in 2008 with the mission to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies. The key objective is to support efforts as part of the Climate Transformation Programme, an interdisciplinary research initiative focused on developing, inspiring, and accelerating knowledge-based solutions to address climate change and its impacts in Southeast Asia.

    We are looking for a Research Associate to conduct research on the monitoring and modelling of urban water management systems, with experience in Singapore and in the region. The role will focus on i) reviewing existing stormwater management guidelines and ii) informing new climate-resilient guidelines by conducting monitoring and modelling of several stormwater management systems in Singapore.


    Key Responsibilities:




    • Conducting a review of the peer-reviewed and grey literature on stormwater management guidelines




    • Leading research on the optimization of existing guidelines under future climate conditions for Singapore, including the monitoring and modelling of several stormwater management systems in Singapore, preferably with open-source software




    Job Requirements:




    • Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, or any related field.




    • At least 4 years of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience with hydrologic modelling of stormwater management systems in Southeast Asia (preferably Singapore)




    • Familiarity with Singapore’s Public Utility Board guidelines and regulations (experience with additional countries in Southeast Asia will be viewed favourably)




    • As the position requires stakeholder engagement in English, candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.




    • Proficiency in hydrologic modelling software (preferably open-source software such as SWMM)




    • Demonstrated ability to lead research independently and work in interdisciplinary teams
