  • Assistant Professor of Chemistry
    Chemistry
    Wellesley College

The Chemistry Department of Wellesley College invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental physical chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall of 2026. Recognizing our department's strength in research at the chemistry-biology interface, we particularly encourage applicants whose proposed experimental work would expand our department's research portfolio in new directions. Applicants should be prepared to teach introductory chemistry, physical chemistry lectures and laboratories, and seminars. The successful candidate will have a commitment to curricular/lab development and pedagogical effectiveness in undergraduate education. They will also have a well-developed plan to lead a sustainable, productive research program that actively involves undergraduates. A competitive start-up package will be provided. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree is required by the time of appointment; candidates who are ABD at the time of application are welcome to apply.

Wellesley College is a highly selective liberal arts college for women located in the suburbs of Boston, USA, with a student body of ~2300 that is varied along many dimensions. In recent years, the NSF has ranked us as the top liberal arts college nationally in terms of generating female Ph.D.s in STEM fields.

To apply for this position, please submit a cover letter that addresses your interest in this position at Wellesley College, a CV, unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience (~2 pages), a research statement describing both past work and future plans (~3-4 pages), and the names/email addresses of three referees who will be asked to submit confidential letters of recommendation. Individually, the three letters of recommendation can be from any prior or current component of your education or experience, but collectively, they should explicitly address your promise for both successful teaching and research. Application materials should be submitted via https://wd1.myworkdaysite.com/recruiting/wellesley/wellesley-faculty.  Review of applications will begin on September 15th and will continue on a rolling basis thereafter until the position is filled. Questions about the position may be directed to Professor Mala Radhakrishnan, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, at mradhakr@wellesley.edu.
