    Overview


    The Department of Neuroscience is a basic science department that focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of synapse development and function, sensory systems, and complex behavior, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral neurobiology. The Dr. Michael Halassa lab is supported by funding from the federal government as well as university funds. The faculty within the department is also extensively involved with the Graduate School of Biomedical Science Program in Neuroscience as well as teaching within the medical school



    What You'll Do


    Reporting to Principal Investigator, the Lab Manager will be responsible for administrative and technical operations the lab and will work independently performing a wide range of routine and specialized laboratory duties. Will develop or modify techniques and protocols. Will be responsible for surgical preparations and assist with tree shrew surgeries and experiments. Will train/supervise others in the laboratory and help manage laboratory operations and equipment maintenance.



    • Participates in tree shrew experiments and surgeries, oversees preparations for surgical procedures, advises on tree shrew husbandry and trains laboratory personnel in tree shrew handling.

    • Manages laboratory operations - Train, supervise, and evaluate performance of technical personnel, ensures compliance with university safety and OSHA requirements; participate in university committees when necessary and oversees ordering and inventory of supplies, equipment repair and maintenance.

    • Works closely with the PI in managing his calendar and travel arrangements 

    • Assists PI in lab-wide communications and scheduling such as lab-meetings, external speaker visits, organizes lab-wide outings etc.



    What We're Looking For


    Basic Requirements:



    • Bachelor’s degree in science with 3+ years’ experience

    • Experience working with tree shrews


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), highly organized, strong attention to detail, analytic ability, and ability to multitask in a busy environment. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation.



    Pay Range

    Minimum $72,500.00, Midpoint $90,700.00, Maximum $108,900.00

    Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
