    Job Description

    The Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for an Instructor position in Plant Biology and Herbarium Curator. We seek an outstanding botanist with expertise in plant taxonomy, systematics, biodiversity, and the management and development of botanical collections. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching excellence in plant sciences and will be responsible for the curation, growth, and accessibility of the university's herbarium collection. The candidate will also engage in high-quality lab teaching and mentorship of students at the undergraduate level. Candidates with extensive knowledge and identification skills of the regional floral resources are highly encouraged to apply. As you will contribute to a program of collection-based research related to regional flora, plant taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, and/or conservation, leveraging the herbarium's resources. We also seek a candidate who will foster interdisciplinary collaborations with national and international botanical institutions, herbaria, and conservation organizations.


    Minimum Qualification

    • MSc. in Plant Taxonomy, Plant Biology, Botany, Ecology, Systematics, or a closely related field. • Demonstrated experience in herbarium management, plant specimen curation, and taxonomic identification. • University-level teaching experience in plant biology courses, with a proven commitment to student engagement.


    Preferred Qualification

    • Extensive experience with herbarium database management systems and digital imaging of botanical specimens. • Expertise in field botany, plant collection techniques, and floristic documentation. • Record of scholarly contributions to botanical collections, flora projects, or plant taxonomy. • Strong commitment to student mentorship in both classroom and curatorial settings.
