Description:
Highly motivated individuals are encouraged to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Our laboratory, which will relocate to a beautiful newly renovated space in January, 2019, focuses on engineering functional biologic replacements to repair damaged or diseased tissues in the body. We use the complex signals that are implicated in tissue morphogenesis, repair, and homeostasis as a template for the development of new strategies and biomaterials for tissue regeneration. Through the precise temporal and spatial presentation of soluble bioactive factors, mechanical forces, and biomaterial physical and biochemical properties, we aspire to create microenvironments that regulate cell gene expression and new tissue formation. The positions are available to start in 2019 with a competitive salary. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, their CV, the names of three references and a brief description of future research plans electronically to the email address given below.

Qualifications:
Applicants should hold or be about to complete a PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical engineering, materials science and engineering, chemistry, developmental, cell or molecular biology, or related field. A highly motivated candidate is sought with an experimental background, a strong academic and publication record, and the ability to work independently and on team research. Experience with stem cell and/or organoid culture, molecular and cell biology techniques/assays, and/or polymer synthesis and characterization is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical. Applicants will work in a multidisciplinary tissue engineering laboratory comprised of research professors, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

  • The University of Illinois at Chicago is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
