The College of Arts and Sciences at Lawrence Technological University is seeking to fill the position of Chair, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS). Reporting directly to the Dean, the Chair of MCS will be an integral and essential part of the college’s academic leadership team. The Chair will work collaboratively and proactively with College and University leadership, faculty, staff, and students, partners with other academic units across campus, and with external stakeholders to advance the mission and goals of the MCS, CoAS, and LTU. The Chair will build upon the department and college’s legacy of excellence in teaching, research, and service. The incumbent must be a leader with exemplary record of teaching, research, service, and professional engagement, a strong, demonstrable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, effective academic administration, and successful mentorship and professional development of faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded, active research program in an area of expertise, teach graduate and undergraduate courses as needed, and serve the department, college, and the university in various capacities. Minimum qualifications: Although candidates within any subdiscipline of mathematics or computer science are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in computer science. The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field, is a tenured Associate Professor or Professor, and has a strong record of accomplishments in administration, teaching, research, and service, in addition to the items mentioned above. Start date is negotiable. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
