DHS Science and Technology Directorate is offering a unique opportunity that will support the Office of Innovation and Collaboration (I&C) to develop, build and maintain a database/website interface for technical analyses, program reviews, and annual reports.
What will I be doing? You will review and examine the existing databases within the I&C, assess the needs of I&C staff and customers, develop a strategic plan for I&C database management and collaborate in the execution of the development plan.

Activities may also include interpreting data and analyzing results using appropriate methods, techniques, and visualizations; practice identifying, analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing trends and patterns in complex data sets; gaining knowledge of state-of-the-art statistical, analytical, and visualization methods and techniques through reading, meetings with federal and non-federal researchers and analysts, and participation in professional meetings.
About I&C
The Office of Innovation and Collaboration (I&C), located within the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), comprises approximately 800 Federal and contractor employees that make up a robust, highly technical staff. I&C’s unique role supports innovation and technology transfer to developers and ultimately to users. I&C provides the infrastructure, expertise, and resources to make sound R&D investment decisions, support R&D program strategies, and manage and implement tools that allow S&T to sponsor critical research and development activities including the commercialization of technology for the Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE). This enables the diversification of investments across a broader range of operational needs, increasing technology transition, and leveraging other agency investments to avoid duplication in R&D investments. As part of their operations, each of the I&C divisions have developed several databases to track project information and store deliverables. Consequently, I&C overall has a disparate, non-integrated approach with multiple document types stored on multiple platforms in multiple ways.
I&C integrates the efforts of five divisions: The Office of National Laboratories, the Office of Industry Partnerships, the Office of University Programs, the International Cooperative Programs Office, and the Federally-Funded Research and Development Center Program Management Office. Through partnerships with the private sector, Federal research laboratories, other Federal departments and agencies, academia, and select international partners, I&C provides S&T and DHS Components with pathways to external research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) investments and non-traditional performers to sponsor cutting-edge technology and capability development and deliver high-impact solutions for S&T customers.
