Position Summary

Department Summary
The College of Engineering, Technology, and Management (ETM) is a multidisciplinary college offering degree programs at multiple locations in the Pacific Northwest. Most students enroll at one of the two main campuses in Klamath Falls or Portland-Metro (in Wilsonville). Additionally, Oregon Tech offers its Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and Technology degrees to employees of The Boeing Company at sites in the Puget Sound area. For those students interested in online education, a number of ETM degrees are available through Oregon Tech Online.

The College of ETM offers a wide variety of bachelor’s degrees as well as master’s degrees in Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering at its main campuses, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology at its Seattle campus. Additionally, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology and Management (BAS) is designed specifically for students who have completed a technical Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Science degree and are seeking career advancement.

The College of ETM provides students with the hands-on experience and knowledge they need to be successful in their careers. On average, 96 percent of Oregon Tech graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduating.
Position Summary
Oregon Institute of Technology, the premier public polytechnic university in the Pacific Northwest, and the Business & Technology Department (Management) invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity. Primary teaching responsibilities for this position include all levels of IT, networking, cyber security instruction in the cyber security lab. This position will be in Wilsonville, Oregon with some online courses required in load.

As part of their professional development, faculty will be expected to: pursue funded research opportunities to support student research and activities; build curriculum and labs in support of Oregon Tech’s networking and cyber security programming; establish industry relationships in support of student projects and internship experiences, and engage in scholarly and service activities aligned with their professional goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience with Virtualization Technologies such as VMWare, Hyber-V, KVM,
  • Cloud Computing – AWS, Azure etc.
  • Penetration Testing & Auditing
  • Automation – Networking Systems
  • Firewall, IDS, VPN
  • Security Incident & Event Monitoring
  • Ability to establish and develop research program
  • Knowledge and ability to build curriculum and labs to support Oregon Tech’s networking and cyber security program
  • Knowledge of industry needs and ability to establish partnerships to advance program
  • Knowledge and/or experience of funded research opportunities within area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of prior teaching in higher education in networking and/or cyber security and/or two years relevant industry experience in applying a systems development methodology to technology projects.
  • History of a current applicable research program through applied or empirical research.
