Position Summary

Department Summary
The College of Engineering, Technology, and Management (ETM) is a multidisciplinary college offering degree programs at multiple locations in the Pacific Northwest. Most students enroll at one of the two main campuses in Klamath Falls or Portland-Metro (in Wilsonville). Additionally, Oregon Tech offers its Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and Technology degrees to employees of The Boeing Company at sites in the Puget Sound area. For those students interested in online education, a number of ETM degrees are available through Oregon Tech Online.

The College of ETM offers a wide variety of bachelor’s degrees as well as master’s degrees in Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering at its main campuses, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology at its Seattle campus. Additionally, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology and Management (BAS) is designed specifically for students who have completed a technical Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Science degree and are seeking career advancement.

The College of ETM provides students with the hands-on experience and knowledge they need to be successful in their careers. On average, 96 percent of Oregon Tech graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduating.

Position Summary

The Information Technology / Health Informatics Faculty position will have teaching responsibilities in multiple areas of the Information Technology program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience working with software development projects, systems design, and analytics projects in a Health Care setting. This position will be in Portland, Oregon with some online courses required in load.

As part of their professional development, faculty will have the opportunity to: pursue funded research to support student research and activities; build curriculum and labs in support of Oregon Tech’s information technology programming; establish industry relationships in support of student projects and internship experiences; and engage in scholarly activities aligned with their professional goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related discipline. Candidates with a Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of post-graduation industry or teaching experience will also be considered. Degree focus in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Skills: Candidate shall demonstrate knowledge in database administration, including SQL Server; big data methodologies utilizing infrastructures such as Hadoop or MongoDB; analytics platforms such as Tableau, SPSS, R, or PowerBI; and programming languages such as C#.NET, Python, and SQL. Should have skills in Web Development. Candidate should have experience with Windows Server, Windows SQL Server, Windows Desktop OS, Linux, and Analysis Methodologies such as SCRUM or AGILE.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Evidence of prior teaching in higher education and/or relevant industry experience applying and designing technology solutions incorporating SDLC methodologies. Such experience should include implementing database solutions and data analytics technologies.
  • Research: History of a current applicable research program through applied or empirical research.
