The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Assoc. Prof. Elbert Chia at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on measuring the current-phase relation of a Josephson junction in superconductor-based structures, using a tunnel-diode-based penetration depth setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation, maintenance, and modification of the tunnel-diode-based penetration depth setup in Prof. Chia’s laboratory

  • Management of project issues, including related paperwork

  • Measurement of the London penetration depth in superconductors

  • Preparation of scientific publications

Job Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in physics is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated strong experimental skills

  • Demonstrated ability to publish high-tier research publications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including scientific writing).

  • Ability to work independently but also to work as part of a team, e.g., collaborating with the group members as well as researchers from other labs.
