Dr. Hunter’s research interests include the development of electrochemical sensors to detect markers of immune activation (e.g., nitric oxide) in biological systems. She is particularly interested in developing sensor platforms to study the interaction between macrophage cells and nanomaterials, including nanoparticles and electrospun fibers. Additionally, her work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of nitric oxide-releasing materials that can be used for remediation of biological contamination on cultural heritage materials.
