  • By training I am a microclimatologist and study carbon cycles in high latitude aquatic and marine systems. The goal of this research is not only to better understand the role of these systems as a GHG (CO2, but also CH4) source or sink, but also to understand the linkages among the exchange of the climate-active gases at the surface, and characteristics of the atmosphere and the near surface marine or aquatic system. Research is multidisciplinary and field oriented, integrating surface meteorology, energy budgets, and aquatic/marine biogeochemistry. I have been the academic lead and co-lead for carbon cycle projects in large networks, including the NSERC CRD BaySys, IPY Circumpolar Flaw Lead Experiment, and the ArcticNet (Phase II) project: Marine Biogeochemistry. Additionally, I was the Director of the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) at the University of Manitoba over the period between 2012 and 2017.
I teach courses in the area of Hydrology, Microclimatology, Boundary Layer Climatology, and Techniques courses in Climatology:
