Janine is interested in improving animal health and wellbeing, productivity and profitability in livestock production by building more resilient and sustainable livestock systems in light of our changing climate and the challenges these pose. Her research focusses on integrated digital agriculture and the potential benefits this technology could bring to monitoring animal health and wellbeing, in the early detection of illnesses, in improving animal welfare and in guiding the implementation of new and innovative farm management strategies. Janine is also exploring biosecurity risks to livestock to develop adaptive and preventative strategies to mitigate against changing and more variable climate.
Janine is also interested in science communications and outreach. She actively communicates her research to various scientific and non-scientific audiences by participating in National Science Week events and as invited speaker at educational, agricultural and other industry groups.
